Ianto Jones was just your standard Torchwood archivist and dogs body, there was something a little more special about the young lad from Cardiff as throughout his life he was sure he kept seeing a royal blue police box from the 1950s - that's right, instead of an angel on his shoulder he had a Time Lord and one day that fact came in handy.

Ianto had collapsed in Jack's arms and thought dead by the much older man but even though he was closest to the fallout his condition was only extremely weak boardering on deceased, which was a good thing for a certain Doctor when he spirited away the Welshman from London in 2009 and took him to the hospitals of New New York, curing him of what he had been inflicted with and adding a little something more before returning him to his Captain - which resulted in a punch for The Doctor before a hug after finding out that Jack would never be lonely again.
